My job

So, recently, I made the switch from selling white goods to selling computers and cameras. Most of you would probably think that it fits me a lot better, but truth be told, I find it more stressfull, because I have to learn the differences between all the products again. I mean, I have a certain degree of knowledge about computers and cameras in general, but I don't know the difference between all our laptops for instance. Also, it's not fun selling product you don't believe in yourself, so selling a REALLY cheap router is no fun, because you know that whenever there are to many computers connected and the router temporarily dies, they have no idea how to make it work better or faster, and they come back whining. It's also really annoying having costumers that only wants the cheapest model because "there's no difference anyways."

Another aspect is that whenever someone (mostly, perhaps, old couples) come asking me about white goods, it's far easier to impress them. Now, everyone expects me to know a LOT about everything, and I hate that. I can't stand when my expertise goes unrewarded. Which brings me to whiny customers.

Of course, if whatever you bought isn't working, you bring it back to the store, normal procedure. But, customers who only whine no matter what REALLY annoys me. Whenever something isn't working, it's our fault, and if we treat them a little better than we're supposed to or do something we normally wouldn't, it's still not good. The only way to please these motherfuckers is to sell them stuff that's really, really cheap. They don't care how nice you are as long as you're not mean, all they want is something cheap. Lousy assholes.

All in all, costumers really annoy me, especially the ones who think shouting and cursing is the best way to deal with a salesman in order to get what you want. And of course, the general misconception that we (the salesmen/-women) only want to make you pay as much as possible. We don't give a damn wether we sell you something good or not, as long as you're stupid enough to pay for it, we're happy. Of course, the service ends as soon as you paid for the product. If something's wrong with it, you have to expect using a couple of months of whining and asking where you camera is because we don't care wether you're happy or not. Now that you've paid, we don't care about you until you want to buy something new. Which you always do, you hypocrite.

IF YOU HATE ELKJØP THAT MUCH, FUCKING GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, YOU LOUSY PIECE OF MISERABLE WEEKEND-DRUNK!

I normally don't whine that much (shut up, Patrick), but when I first go on a rant, I tend to keep going.

All in all, I prefer white goods because it's easier to impress the customers and I know a lot more about the products.

Hihi. Welcome to my daily job, kinda. I get a lot of those stupid questions too. ;)

It's not harder than saying. "Yes, it is cheap, but it also might be unstable if your grandchildren come to visit and start really using your net." or something like that. And regarding the "there's no difference anyway-people", just tell them, "yeah if you think so then just buy the cheap one". :3
You get what you pay for anyway.

You earn more if you sell more expensive stuff anyway, don't you?

Not quite.
I do earn more if I sell the "right" stuff and insurance and service- and support-deals, not just expensive stuff.

Well, people tend to not trust us who makes a living out of selling stuff. Except journalists. The ones who don't trust us never thinks twice if it's in the paper.

Haha, I get crappy cutomers too. ;P People that demand things that are impossible to do with html, and that get mad when I misinterpret their poor explanations or get confused when they change their minds for the seventh time.

Luckily most of the customers I deal with are quite nice. Answering with large smilies when I've completed an easy task and such. xD

Elkjøp. <3 I'm going there today! :D To look for a fancy kettle.

And isn't it kinda interesting to learn about the differences in the products in your new department as well? When you know about both you'll be an even more valuable employee! :D
